Each faction presents its own unique units, structures, build order, perks. + Lots of graphical options+The AI is very competent, with different difficulty options to adjust the behavior. +The game strikes a great balance between macro and micro management. For those looking to get into a RTS game this is a good place to start. Unlike other RTS games of this nature the focus is more about building the right type of units as opposed to managing your economy/units. If you ever played StarCraft or Warcraft you may find this game a bit easier as you don’t have to micro manage too much. +Single player campaign has a variety of different mission with some unique ideas. Not every mission is about destroying the enemy bases. +Skirmish mode allows you play against AI’s in a variety of different maps. The Average:The story and characters is where the game is a lacking. Despite the great CGI scenes, the characters are not really interesting and the story doesn’t provide any new ideas. Despite this, the story does maintain a cohesion throughout the game. The Bad:- Takes a long time to save and load- Grey Goo…really…. that’s the best name you came up with for a game? Nobody in the company said this sound terrible? - Multiplayer is dead which is really sad because this is a really great RTS game. Conclusion: Probably the closest thing to StarCraft you are going to see on Steam. It has a ton of interesting ideas, combines different RTS elements in one package and feels very polished. RTS genre fans should be playing this game.. Grey Goo is the RTS I have been waiting for. Macro-focused, slower paced and deeply engaging, Grey Goo merges the classic Westwood RTS (C&C, Red Alert) with modern finesse and excellent design (courtesy of Weta Workshops). If you are like me, this is one purchase you will never regret.. Got this game from: https://www.bundlestars.com/en/bundle/indie-legends-5-bundle And yes it's a definitive copy, so you'll get all perks for mere few bucks. It has extra campaign, and of course the great soundtracks. At this rate, it's a steal. When I fired up the game for the first time, it instantly reminded me of Starcraft 2 and even more with GG's futuristic template, let alone same genre.Graphically it's neat, have many in-game options for like Shader, Geometry and the regular Vsync. CG is nice, only one notch less than Blizzard's in my eyes. And I can play with 60 fps flat on my mediocre laptop. The problem is the Multiplayer. The game, despite it's a decent MP game, community's dead. You may need to arrange match with other people before you jump into MP. But no worry, the single player aspect is already more than enough content. I'm enjoying playing the campaigns so far.Recommended.. It's refreshing to see an RTS that finally goes back to the genre's roots as well as adding interesting mechanics that feel right. The base building mechanics, units, and technologies for each race are completely unique but gameplay still feels balanced. As a huge fan of the classic C&C's, it's awesome that the soundtrack is composed by the man himself Frank Klepacki. Not only that but having former talent from Westwood working on this game, you really can't go wrong.. Awsome game! If you like C&C, you're gonna like Grey Goo too.. Grey Goo is a game that brings us back to the classical RTS playstyle with slower gameplay and base building orientation. This game is basically a mix between C&C games, Universe At War: Earth Assault and Earth 2160. If you come at this game with an open mind you will enjoy it imensily. If you expect everything to be exactly as in C&C then you will be heavily dissapointed. This is a real throwback to what RTS games once were about and I hope that will be again. The UI in this game is one of the most non intrusive I have seen in any RTS game to date. The campaign is challenging on hard but passable. The missions are designed very good and provide a very long singleplayer experience. I would say that you can get easily 15-20 hours out of it. Skirmish offers quite a good AI that really knows how to counter players moves. The ressource in this game the so called Catalyst is mined on Catalyst/Veins fields by Extractors which are replenishible like Tiberium fields in C&C games. The three faction are really distinctive. The Humans although a full turtling faction are capable of carrying out early rushes to disturb enemy eco production. What you need to realise is that base buildings in this game are hard to destroy so you have ample time to rebuild some of your forces that get destroyed. This game is not like SC2 just about how you Micro. Its about how secure your supply lines are and how secure your production is. So it does not matter if you loose your army since you can field another one in do time. Basically its a macro game. Humans are very adaptible when it comes to base defenses since they can teleport any building to any place on the conduit lines.Betas as a faction are quite adaptive and offer a nice mix between a turtling and offense faction. They may look similar in playstle to Humans but they do offer faster counterattack options. And the Hand of Ruk rocks. Goos really are a faction that is made for the fans of Micro management. It is important to note that Goos need some time before they can produce enough force but when they do then you will surely get a nice fight. Also just to point out that the Map Editor is already included in the game since some people think that its not there. Its in the games Steam folder (PgPublicTerrainEditor).Anyway I recommend the game to any UaW, C&C and Earth series fans but as said this is a new game that includes a lot of different concepts so you need to be open minded to it.
